Delft Islands

It is a great place to visit if you like Sri Lankan history or want to relax on beautiful sandy beaches and watch wild horses take a dip in the beautiful Island sea.Except for the beautiful scenery and abandoned fortress ruins, there are a couple of unique attractions. First, there are feral horses roaming around, which are the descendants of Arabian stallions that used to be bred here for trading with India. Second, there is a big Baobab tree, which is a rare sight in Sri Lanka as it is a type of tree usually found in Africa. Everything that represents Delft Island – the buildings, animals, and trees – are reminders of Europe’s colonial past.
