Knuckles Forest Reserve
The Knuckles Mountain Reach additionally called the Knuckles Massif; a bio-variety area of interest situated in the locale of Kandy and Matale in the Focal Region of Sri Lanka. It is made up of five peaks and is more than 3000 feet above sea level. It covers about 21 ha of land. namely Kirigalpoththa, Gombaniya, Knuckles, Koboneelagala, and Dotulugala, all of which resemble the shape of a clenched fist’s knuckles. In 1873, the region above 1500 meters was designated a climate reserve, in 2000, it was designated a conservation forest, and in 2009, it was designated a National Man & Biosphere Reserve and a World Heritage Site. Today, it is regarded as one of the most significant conservation locations for montane tropical forest habitats in South Asia.
