One more oceanside on the eastern coast is Muhathuwaram, which is about a mile from Batticaloa. It is a beautiful stretch of undeveloped beach that is surrounded by fishing villages. If you’re staying here, it’s a nice alternative to the more popular beaches in the area and a good day trip from Batticaloa.
