Victoria – Randenigala – Rantambe

The Victoria, Randenigala, and Rantambe reservoirs were constructed within this catchment area as part of the accelerated MahaweliDevelopment Scheme. The 42,087 hectare area is under the Department of Wildlife Conservation’s jurisdiction and is protected as a sanctuary. This region is suitable for numerous species of forest birds and raptors due to its forested hills, valleys, large reservoirs, and rivers.
